A Piece of Advice: Choosing Classes in College

Hi everyone!

I'm currently a college student and I've been in college since September 2012. I've been going to the college I'm currently attending since Spring 2013.

At first I was going along with my mom's plan for me to be a nurse but now I'm trying to get into the Diagnostic Ultrasound program at my school.
The program itself is only two years and there are only six prerequisites.
If I had plan accordingly and passed all my classes in one try, I probably would've been graduating in 2017.

But no.... at this rate, I'll probably graduate in 2018.

If you don't want to end up like me and stay in college more than you actually need or plan to then here are some helpful tips I've learned throughout my college years.

  • Know what you're going to major in!
    • Knowing your major is a serious thing and will determine how long you'll be in school for. Well, that and what you passed in high school. There are people I know who chose a major but then end up switching it to something way different. Right then and there you're wasting both time and money. I mean don't get me wrong, if you choose to switch majors once or even twice is fine, that just means your interests changed. But don't be a person who switches from teaching to healthcare, to business. None of your previous classes will be able to fulfill your prerequisites. Also for some schools, you have to officially declare your major before your third or so year. So, be sure you know what you're majoring in!
  • Make sure you go to a counselor!
    • This is SO important! I didn't go to one because I thought since I have a friend that did running start, that I would know how to plan out my classes if I have her with me. Counselors can help with class planning and with questions your friends might not know the answer to. If you fail a class, you can go to them for options on how to get through that class so you can reach completing your prerequisites.

  • Have your Prerequisites memorized or written down.
    • Memorizing or writing down your prerequisites is very helpful especially when your planning or choosing what classes to take. Keep in mind that some classes require you to take a different class before taking that one. Not knowing your prerequisites isn't a good thing because then you'll choose classes by what you want to learn not what you need to learn. For example, my first quarter I chose to take Japanese instead of taking math. Sure I refreshed my limited Japanese but I now have a wasted credit from that class
  • Do your research on professors.
    • This helps make sure you know how hard or helpful a professor is before you take a class. The site I use is: ratemyprofessor.com. This site lets people rate the professor based on helpfulness, clarity, and easiness. It also shows what the average grade people get in the class. I try to choose the professors with overall rating that are close to 4.0. The only downside (or what can be a downside) is that the results of the professor show reviews from all the classes they teach.
  • Be sure the class you want is available during the quarter.
    • The worse thing to happen is that when you're registering at the end of the quarter and find out the class you want to take next quarter is only available in the current quarter. Now you have to wait a whole year until you can take that class. What do I mean by this? For example, at my school one of my prerequisites is Physics 100 which is only available during fall quarter.
  • Get help right away!
    • The most scariest and worst thing to happen to any student is finding out at the end of the quarter that you're either not going to pass the class or that your grade isn't good enough to get into your prerequisite class. Everybody is going to tell you this and now I'm going to tell you this, get help RIGHT AWAY. There was an instant that I didn't look for help until the end of the quarter and I ended up dropping the class which is bad because now I will forever have a W (for withdraw) on my transcript. It's not bad to have W's on your transcript, as long as you don't have too many and if you retake the class and do really good the next time. So, DO NOT wait until later to ask for help. Once you realize you're having trouble find a tutor, ask your professor, or go to a learning center. Learning centers are just that, you go and get help with the subject you're having trouble on, it's like a group tutoring session.
Choosing classes in college is actually pretty fun because you can schedule who you take and what time you take the class so that it fits around your schedule. The university I went to during my very first quarter of college had class options where you go to class for two and half hours but the class is only a couple days a week. If you choose that kind of class, don't become lazy to show up during the days you actually have to go.

What you get done in high school is important as well, I didn't realize that until my senior year like most people. But be sure you're ready. I'll post another "Piece of Advice" on tips for those of you guys still in high school. Be on watch for that one!

Hope this was helpful! ♡

Happy New Year!

Hey, everyone!

It was New Year's Day yesterday, but I still hope that 2014 was a good year for you all. If not, then I hope 2015 will be better!

I apologize for not keeping up with my blog or YouTube lately, but I hope to continue to post and upload videos at least once a week from now on. I'll be starting winter quarter on Monday, but the good news is that I'll only be going to campus on Fridays. This means that I'll try to have something up almost every week. either on here or my YouTube channel on Thursdays. If not, please wait until the following week.

For sure things I'll be posting within the next four weeks:

  • YouTube (Wednesdays)
    • What I got for Christmas
    • What is on my phone?
    • Favorites of 2014
  • Blog (Tuesdays)
    • Current Every day Makeup
    • Skincare Routine
    • A Piece of Advice: How to Choose Classes in College
There are a couple of items I want to review as well but I just received them and I want to make sure I've used them for an appropriate amount of time before doing a proper review.

Happy New Year and I wish everyone a good and healthy 2015! ♡

Laneige BB Cushion Review!

Hey everyone!
I'm sorry I haven't posted anything since early April but now I'm back!
I don't know for how long but let's enjoy each other's company while I'm here.

Okay so last month I decided to buy the Laneige BB Cushion from my local Target.
Yes, TARGET SELLS LANEIGE!!!
So since I've had it for a little while now, I've decided it's time to write a review on it.

As always I'm not being paid to do this review.

I so ecstatic when I saw Laneige being sold at Target here in the US. I was so happy that I just had to tell my best friend about it. The day I saw the Laneige products at Target, I decided to buy something. No, it wasn't the BB Cushion just yet. The very first Laneige product I bought was the Water Bank Sleeping Pack. Then a couple weeks after, I decided to finally buy the BB Cushion. I've been using it ever since.

This is what comes inside the box:

It also comes with a Refill!

This BB cushion retail for $34 according to the Target website.

Target carries three shades; Light, Medium, and Dark. I got it in the shade medium.

BB Cushion is pretty much BB cream in a compact form while still being a liquid. How does this work? Inside there's 0.52 oz of product with a cushion holding it in place. To get the product out, simply take the special sponge applicator and push on the cushion.

I say special because the applicator isn't your normal every day makeup sponge you can buy at a drugstore. It's specially designed to not absorb as much product as a regular makeup sponge would. The applicator is very soft and easy to use. To apply the product, simply tap the applicator on the face and keep tapping and moving the applicator around until the product is fully blended.

Ratings:

  • Color: 4 out of 5
    • The color I got was Medium which is a bit too light for my skin but with a little bit of bronzer, it works well.
  • Packaging: 5 out of 5
    • The packaging is very light and sturdy. Very travel friendly. You could even pop out the cushion portion of the packaging if the compact as a whole seems too bulky for you to bring on your travels.
  • Concept: 3 out of 5
    • Although I love the packaging, it being light and travel friendly, the concept has it's cons. The huge pro about this concept is that you don't have to bring a tube of BB cream with you when you travel and this compact makes it very easy for someone to bring along in case they need to touch up their makeup. But the con to this is that it's kind of hard to tell how much product is left in the cushion.
  • Scent: 4 out of 5
    • This product does have a light scent to it that goes away after a while. But if you're one of those people who either don't like having scents in their face products or are sensitive to scents, I don't recommend this to you.
  • Texture and coverage: 4 out of 5
    • When applied to the skin, the product is very light weight. But once its on the skin, you have to let it set for a couple of minutes other wise it feels a little tacky. The coverage is fine for me since I don't have as much breakouts as much as I did before. It covers up redness and evens out my skin tone.
Overall I like this product a lot especially since I use it as part of my school makeup. It's very easy to use and the application doesn't take that long. Highly recommend to those who are always in a rush. I don't really recommend to those who have oily skin like I do because unless you have a good setting powder, you will look very oily at the end of the day. I forgot to switch foundations once before going to work and when I got off work at 9:30pm, I was so oily it was disgusting. But using it for school, which is only about three hours for me, it does very well on staying on my face.

I have also posted "A Look At: Laneige BB Cushion" video on my YouTube Channel. It shows how to apply this BB Cushion and how it looks on my skin.

Late Upload...

Hello!
So, as you can probably see. My new video for my YouTube channel isn't up yet.
The only explanation for this is that I had trouble editing the video.
I thought I was almost done but it turned out that I was using the wrong video files.

Haha, my bad. Sorry about it.

I will hopefully get the editing done by the time I go to sleep tonight and have it up right after.
I can't put it off until tomorrow since I will be working and I don't want the video to be any later than it already is. So I'm sorry if you guys were expecting a new video.

Also, if you guys have any tips on how I can improve on YouTube or even on here, don't be afraid to tell me. I'll gladly take your comments and tips.

Thank you for your patience!

Follow me on Instagram and Update!

Hello everyone!

First of all,
Interested in seeing what I've been up to but in picture form?
Or just want to pass time?
Do you like food, art, or some other random things?

Well, I've recently decided to open up an Instagram account!
I've had it for a couple days now but didn't upload any pictures until today.

Follow me on Instagram:
obese_panda

My pictures on there won't always be "instant" as most people's are.
The reason being is that I don't own an android or apple phone. So, I don't have Instagram on my phone. So, instead I have it on my ipad but I don't always carry it around with me.
Please bare with me until I'm able to upgrade to a new phone which may be in either April or August.

Now for an update!

I'm going to try to have something new posted on here either every friday or every other friday.
As for my YouTube, I don't know when I'm going to start regularly posting since I'm still new to it and don't really know what to post. But if you guys have any suggestions, don't be afraid and tell me.
I'll be glad to make a video and hopefully upload it as soon as possible.
Just please keep in mind that I am a full time student and part-time worker.

Talk to you guys in my next post!
